To meet the demanding operational requirements of the mining industry, we developed a complete dip coating solution for the application of rubber-to-metal bonding agents on mining machine parts. This project utilizes our OKM-D Series coating line, optimized specifically for complex-shaped components in heavy-duty mining equipment.
Project Objective
The objective was to design a coating system capable of:

Ensuring complete and uniform surface coverage, especially on parts with irregular geometries.

Providing strong adhesion between rubber and metal surfaces during subsequent molding/vulcanization.

Minimizing chemical waste and improving coating efficiency.

Supporting a continuous and compact production workflow.
Process Overview
Our solution uses the OKM-D Series dip coating system, integrated with pre-heating and drying ovens, to carry out a controlled multi-stage coating process:

Loading & Pre-Heating:
Parts are manually or automatically loaded onto an overhead conveyor. The conveyor moves them into a pre-heating oven, where the metal is brought to a target temperature that promotes optimal bonding. -
First Dip – Primer Application:
Pre-heated parts are dipped into a primer tank containing the rubber-to-metal bonding agent. The tank’s automated lifting mechanism ensures a uniform coating while reducing excess material usage. -
Drip & Dry Stage 1:
After dipping, the parts are held above the tank to allow excess coating to drip off. They are then transferred into a drying oven, where the primer layer cures at a controlled temperature. -
Second Dip – Topcoat or Secondary Agent:
After the first drying stage, the parts undergo a second dipping process, typically for a topcoat or an additional bonding agent, depending on rubber specifications. -
Final Curing & Unloading:
The coated parts pass through a final curing oven and are then moved to the unloading area. They are now ready for rubber application or vulcanization in downstream processes.
Why This Matters for Mining Applications
Mining machine parts operate under extreme conditions, requiring rubber components to be securely bonded to metal substrates. Any failure in the bond can lead to premature wear, costly downtime, and safety risks. This project ensures that each component receives a precisely applied, highly durable bonding layer, improving the overall reliability and performance of mining equipment in the field.
